Manchester City secured their third consecutive away win in the Premier League on Saturday evening with a convincing 3-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium.
The Citizens started the match strongly and took the lead after just five minutes through a well-worked team goal. Kevin De Bruyne found himself in acres of space on the right wing and he delivered a pinpoint cross into the box for Gabriel Jesus to head home from close range.
City continued to dominate possession and create chances throughout the first half but it was not until the 47th minute that they doubled their lead. Bernardo Silva teed up Riyad Mahrez who fired past the keeper from a tight angle.
The visitors' dominance continued in the second half as they pushed forward and created more opportunities. However, it was the hosts who were the better side in terms of quality and had a couple of good chances before the hour mark when Declan Rice headed narrowly wide from a corner.
But it was not long before City restored their three-goal advantage. Phil Foden was introduced in the 61st minute and his pace caused West Ham's defence problems. He won a penalty in the 65th minute when he barged into Michail Antonio. Pellegrini stepped up and slotted the spot-kick past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
The result sees Manchester City move up to fifth place in the table, level on points with Chelsea and Arsenal, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone. It was a comfortable win for the Citizens and a perfect start to their run of games against teams below them in the table.
