Marseille has dismissed Liverpool's interest in signing midfielder Thomas Lemar from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco, saying the deal is "unsellable" due to his high value.

The French giants had reportedly made a £22m offer for the 22-year-old but were told by Monaco that it was not feasible.

Lemar, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United this summer, will be out of contract at the end of the season and is said to want to leave Monaco.

However, Marseille have refused to sell him and believe they can keep him on loan or buy him outright next year.

Speaking to France Football, Marseille president Jean-Pierre Rivère said: "We have no intention of selling him, we don't want to sell him."

He added: "If he wants to go, we'll find a solution. We're not going to let him go for nothing."

Lemar has scored six goals and provided three assists in 16 league games for Monaco this season.

He has also been linked with a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid, but Marseille have ruled them out as potential destinations.

"We are not interested," Rivière said when asked about the possibility of Lemar joining one of those clubs.

"We are not interested in any player who does not want to play for us."
