Lille have secured the French top flight title with a stunning win over Marseille, thanks to Jonathan David's brace. The 22-year-old striker has been in sensational form this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions.
David's goal against Marseille was his 16th of the campaign, breaking the club record set by Emmanuel Adebayor in 2015-16. He now sits just two behind the record set by Karim Benzema in 2014-15.
The victory also sees Lille qualify for the Europa League next season, securing their place in Europe's premier club competition for the first time since 2019.
The win is a massive boost for the team, who had previously been struggling to secure a place in Europe's elite competition. It also gives coach Christophe Galtier the opportunity to rest some key players ahead of the upcoming matches.
With the Champions League qualifying spots already decided, Lille will now focus on finishing the season strongly to ensure they secure one of the top four spots in the league table.
